Join The Walk!

Freedom Walk 2026 marks the New York City halfway point of a national pilgrimage retracing historic routes of liberation.

Beginning on May 4th, walking twelve miles per day, participants will journey from Maryland, Virginia, Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York, ultimately crossing by boat into Canada on July 4th — honoring the continued paths taken by freedom seekers beyond American borders.

The New York gathering serves as a sacred midpoint — a moment of rest, historical reflection, honor, and communal recommitment before the walkers continue their journey toward freedom.

This event integrates:

·      Indigenous involvement with the Underground Railroad and more

·      Faith leadership from the historic Freedom Church

·      Living testimony from national Freedom Walk participants

·      Harriet Tubman embodiment

·      Pulitzer Prize-winning historical guest speaker

·      Musical/praise dance interpretation of coded spirituals

·      Abolition legacy reflection

·      Community healing and recommitment

Together, these elements affirm that freedom is not a finished story — it is a journey still unfolding.
